" A Toast to Bygone Days " Is a descriptive portrayal of Jeannette Schiller's life and that of her family. She was born in Iron Mountain, a small town located in the outskirts of Escanaba Michigan and is of French.

When crippling arthritis caused her father to quit his job at the lumber mill the family moved to a farm in southern Saskatchewan but due to unimaginable problems the farming venture lasted only a couple of years and Forget, Saskatchewan then became their future home.

At the age of nine, due to heart-breaking circumstances Jeannette was sent to a local boarding school operated by a community of nuns from France. On the completion of Grade Twelve in 1930 she enrolled at the Regina Teacher's College and at the end of the year was awarded an interim teaching diploma.

She taught for a period of four years in the small town of Delmas, Saskatchewan, married in 1935, continued to teach grades one to eight in a one room country school close to home for a year. Then giving up on Saskatchewan moved with her husband and their newly born baby to Lumby, B,C, Eventually, they landed in Victoria and called it home for the last sixty years.

At ninety Jeannette's' claim to happiness is that of being surrounded with loving children their families, ever so many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

This book gives you a taste of what life was like living during the depression era, written by an English teacher for her family and friends
